The Ultimate Guide to Squamish Real Estate

If you’re looking for a place to settle down and Squamish has caught your eye, you’re definitely not alone. There’s a lot of reasons to recommend this wonderful city, situated just a 45-minute scenic drive from Vancouver. Families will find great schools to choose from, virtually every home offers a view, and it’s perfect for anyone who loves outdoor activities.

Real Estate in Squamish

This is a desirable area, ideally situated and offering a high quality of living. You can enjoy a comfortable pace of life and still maintain access to everything you need—all while being surrounded by sea, sky and mountains. Who wouldn’t love it here?

But just in case you need to hear more, here are some reasons why you should consider investing in Squamish real estate:

The Population is Booming

On February 9, the initial results of the 2021 national census revealed that the population of Squamish had increased to 23,819. That represented a growth of more than 22% over the previous census in 2016. When compared to the provincial average of 7.6% and the national average of 5.25%, it’s clear that Squamish is growing fast—fast enough to be named the fourth fastest-growing B.C. subdivision.

A Community Close to Nature And Each Other

Squamish is a nature lover’s dream, with plenty of space and opportunity for outdoor adventures, whether you enjoy biking, hiking, fishing, or any of the many other activities available. But not only is Squamish close to nature, but the people of Squamish are also close to one another in a tight-knit community that is still welcoming to newcomers.

Garibaldi at Squamish

Are you a skier? Then you can look forward to Garibaldi at Squamish, with 130 planned ski and snowboard trails, 21 lifts, and a network of multi-use trails. Garibaldi will bring jobs and investors to the area, but also plenty of great skiing.

Harbour Air

With the community growing, Harbour Air has added Squamish to its list of water runways. This connects Squamish to an expanding list of destinations. Currently offering on-demand service only, Harbour Air plans to expand to regularly scheduled flights upon completion once the Squamish dock is completed.

These are just a few quick points suggesting why you might want to come to Squamish, but once here, what can you look forward to?

How about some of the following:

The Sea to Sky Gondola

One of the most famous attractions in Squamish, the Sea to Sky Gondola lives up to its reputation, bringing you to the top of Mount Habrich in an 8-passenger gondola that offers a stunning view of the area’s natural beauty. Enjoy the views of Howe Sound, Shannon Falls, and the famous Squamish Chief Mountain as you rise up to a peak of nearly 3,000 feet.

Once you reach the top, you can explore and take in the breathtaking scenery from the 5,000-square-foot viewing platform, or cross over the Sky Pilot Suspension Bridge.

Check Out Via Ferrata

Via Ferrata is an assisted climbing adventure that provides you with the excitement of rock climbing with the extra safety of a harness and additional handholds. Meaning “Iron Road” in Italian, Via Ferrata lets you climb up granite cliffs using large steel rungs, secured by a harness, and led by a certified guide. If you’ve ever wanted to go rock climbing, but were too nervous to try, here’s your chance to do it in a fun and safe manner.

White Water Rafting

Prefer riding the rapids to hanging off a rock? Squamish has you covered with a white-water rafting tour navigating the rapids on the Elaho and Squamish rivers. The rapids here are Class 3-4 and can get your adrenaline pumping. Your journey will cover about 16 km but will certainly feel like it’s ending too soon.

Mountain Biking

Anyone who loves mountain biking will love Squamish, which offers hundreds of amazing mountain biking trails. There are dirt jumps and quick descents, climbs and skill tracks. All of them bring you through some beautiful scenery. There are even trails for beginners, so you don’t need to be a pro and if you don’t have a bike of your own, you can rent one and head out to explore cross-country trails.

Whether you are looking for a place to settle down, own a getaway home, or invest in property, Squamish has something to offer and is looking to welcome you.
